Boscombe Cliff Bowling Club is ideally situated on the east side of Bournemouth, overlooking the cliff top at the corner of Woodlands Avenue and Boscombe Overcliff Drive.
Although BCBC is a private club the green is a public one maintained by an experienced contractor who works alongside some of the members to provide, reputedly, one of the best playing surfaces in the area. There are 6 rinks, occasionally 7, and there is seating all around the green which provides a 1st class viewing area.
BCBC is one of the strongest in Dorset and currently has champions at National and County level, and the men won the Bournemouth & District Club League in 2019.
BCBC has been involved with a local junior school over the last couple of years and is now encouraging other young people in the community to join them on the green; and not only youngsters, they encourage people of all ages and abilities to join them. BCBC is proud to say the age range of their members goes from 9 to over 90.
BCBC have experienced coaches who can help any beginner to play lawn bowls, and help the more experienced to become better players.
BCBC currently has 2 Men’s teams playing in the Bournemouth & District Bowling Association League on Saturdays, 4 Triples teams playing on Tuesday evenings, and 2 Triples teams playing on Saturdays. BCBC had 2 Ladies teams in 2019 but had planned on 3 in 2020 playing in the B&DWBA on Thursday afternoons.
BCBC has a good reputation for its friendliness and hospitality, and has a clubhouse with a licensed bar and changing rooms, and also Cafe facilities, The Cafe on the Green, which serves the general public as well as BCBC members.
BCBC has an excellent social section with regular events.
Membership to BCBC is available on 2 levels – Associate Member ( a non-playing member) and Member (a playing member) who may either pay each time they play or be a Season ticket holder (who has free access and priority on the Green).
